Cultural Board

The Cultural Board of Neuland Colony

CulturThe Cultural Board is made up of three members: the appointed Cultural Director (chair), a member of the Governing Council and the School Inspector.

According to the organizational chart the Culture Department includes, amongst others, the following committees: the sports club DBN, Rodeo Neuland, the book store, tourism/museum, adult education, theater and art, the youth ministry of the colony, the choral society "Harmonie", the archives and library and other associations for recreational activities.

The Cultural Board meets once a month to catch up on the cultural events in the different departments and to pass on suggestions. The Cultural Board has its own budget and its bookkeeping is dependent on Neuland Colony.

Cultural Director

The Cultural Director is supposed to coordinate, facilitate and provide advice for the diverse cultural activities, for example, organizing an art exhibition with background music. He organizes cultural exchange programs and keeps himself informed about further cultural possibilities and offers. Interethnic cultural events get special attention because more multicultural bridges need to be built.

Cultural Center

The former Youth Center is now officially called the Cultural Center, and on April 15, 2009 the Governing Council placed the responsibility for it on the Cultural Board. The Cultural Director is the contact person. The center can be rented for family, birthday and other celebrations against an appropriate fee. It is also very suitable for athletics classes, gymnastics and dance courses, as well as being a very suitable place for music and singing groups.

General

music

To keep motivating whole families, various different events with music are planned. The folksong evening, the Rodeo and the spring festival are among the popular festivals and festivities.

The Cultural Director also conducts the "Harmonie" choir. What makes this project so remarkable is that also deeply suffering and marginalized people participate in this choir. Others participate to distract themselves. This choir has proved to be good therapy for patients in difficult situations and was founded at the suggestion of the doctors at Concordia Hospital.
