Compared to the first few years of the colony when the pioneers preferred to keep to themselves and developing tourism was impossible, Neuland has gone through great changes.

There are several tourist attractions in Neuland and time and again improvements are made to awaken the interest of visitors from our country and abroad. Since the year 2000 the colony's public relations department has a visitor program that keeps getting developed further.

Neuland aims for educational tourism showing not only how we live together as different ethnic groups, but also letting the visitors experience sites of the Chaco War (Boquerón Fort), ranches, nature reserves, the flora and fauna and other places of interest.

The Paraguayan Chaco has a very sensitive ecosystem which is why it is not suitable for mass tourism. So instead the colony has specialized in environmentally educational and sustainable tourism.

The Tour

The tour guide gives an introduction into the sight-seeing tour with a short lecture about Neuland's history. For this purpose a visit is made to the Chaco Boreal park with its monuments for the beginnings of the colony and the work of the pioneers of the Colony. After touring the Center the visitors are taken to Amistad park, where Chaco nature has been kept in its original form providing the visitors with a glimpse of the conditions the first settlers encountered when they started here.

Some tourists like to see the churches, the indigenous settlements or the cemetery. The next stop is at the Boquerón fort, where one of the most important battles took place in the defense of the Chaco against the Bolivians in the so-called Chaco War (1932-35).

When visiting ranches and nature reserves it is possible to marvel at the abundant flora and fauna of the Chaco.

Since more and more tourists are interested in the Chaco every year, the colony is anxious to continue to expand the already existing infrastructure and develop new offers for tourism.
